Quality
of Service comes from the people you hire.
The
biggest problem of any business is finding and keeping
qualified personnel. For some strange reason, the
security industry is the worse for this. In my years in
the industry, I’ve seen as high as 200% annual
turnover in some security companies. Combine this with
personnel being hired from the bottom of the economic
ladder, the bottom of the educational ladder, and the
bottom of the social ladder - and the results are as
clear as glass. Half of them can’t read, write, talk,
or dress like a professional security officer and the
other half look like you need a security guard to
protect you from them. They don’t show up on time and
quit at the first sign of a better job. If you’ve had
security guards at your business or property, you know
first hand.
The
solution is simple - PAY MORE and HIRE BETTER!
As a former rank and file security officer who moved
through every single position in the security field,
I’m well aware of the pay scale available for the job
and the amount available to pay true professionals. So
our rate structure is designed with these two concerns
in mind.
HIRING
BETTER means hiring only those who want to do the
job. Professional Patrol Services does not hire from the
bottom of the gene pool (sorry if I just hurt
someone’s feelings). All applicants considered for a
position in this company are personally interviewed by
me, with my reputation on the line. Preference is given
to retired law enforcement officers (first) and retired
military officers (secondly) who are still young enough
to handle the job. Preference is also given to those
professional security officers and supervisors who have
a reputation for outstanding work.
All
applicants, regardless of background, are researched and
double checked through an extensive employment and
personal background check before putting on a uniform.
This means longer delays in hiring, but no chance of an
unsuitable person wearing my uniform. Most companies
hire them and check their backgrounds later, if at all.
Our
officers are completely licensed and trained to the
standards of the Louisiana State Board of Private
Security Examiners, then that training is doubled
in-house with extensive lessons on handling problem
persons, safety and security procedures, and proper
patrol techniques.
Then,
to prevent having to do this all over again, we PAY
MORE! We offer the most competitive salary package
of any security guard service out there. We do not want
our officers trying to pay their bills on minimum wage
and will not take or bid a job so low we cannot make a
profit without slave wages. That doesn’t mean that we
are not competitive on our pricing scale. It means we
are slimming our profit margin and doing without the
fancy offices to ensure we have the finest security
professionals out there.
With
an Employee Incentive Profit Sharing Program and higher
base pay, Professional Patrol Services can be more
select in hiring personnel, spend less on redundant
supervisors to look after untrained guards, and a lot
less on employee turnover.
The
